Simple Ways To Make Organic Foods Affordable - Eating organic does not have to break the bank. Here are some ways to make it affordable.Eating healthy doesn’t mean you will have to go broke in the process. Here are Simple Ways To Make Organic Foods Affordable in your grocery budget this month. Planning ahead and using these tips along with good menu planning will make it much easier for you to feed your family healthy foods on a limited budget.

Simple Ways To Make Organic Foods Affordable

Split bulk purchases with friends or family. There are great prices on antibiotic free and grass fed meats when you purchase from local farms or companies like Zaycon that sell in bulk. Sometimes you may not be able to afford the full amount yourself, but if you find a local friend or family member who can go in with you on the purchase, you can manage lower overall prices for yourself in the process.

Sign up for brand coupons. For those organic brands that you love, don’t hesitate at all to send them an email or even a traditional letter to let them know you are a fan. Ask if they have coupons available or sign up for their email newsletter to get coupons in your inbox. This little savings trick can often help significantly when used in conjunction with sale prices. Now that Whole Foods is owned by Amazon they will start offering special deals to Amazon Prime Members. If you aren’t a member, you can try Amazon Prime for free.

Cook more foods from scratch. At the end of the day, buying any processed organic food is going to cost you more than making it from scratch. Bread, cookies, pasta, brownies, and even canned beans are all more expensive than if you buy the ingredients separately and make from scratch. Compare prices at your local markets and start batch cooking foods from scratch to stretch your grocery budget farther. Dry beans cook easily in a slow cooker and cost at least 40% less dry than their canned counterparts in store.

Join a co-op or shop farmer’s markets. Produce is made much more affordable when you join a local co-op or shop at a local farmer’s market. Great fresh produce is easy to find when you look. Some co-ops even allow you to sell your own produce if you have a garden at home. This is a great way to offset costs on organic foods.

Menu plan. No matter what kind of food you are eating, there is truly nothing as important to your grocery budget than a solid menu plan. It prevents last minute convenience food purchases, as well as helps you use what you already have on hand. When you want to make organic foods affordable, making a menu plan can help you shave hundreds of dollars from your budget easily. Here are tips for creating a meal plan even if you are busy.

Focus on using what you have on hand, as well as making real food from scratch to offset the ricing costs of organic produce and grass fed meats. These simple ways to make organic foods affordable are going to help make your grocery budget something that is lower than expected every month.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
