7 Tips for Becoming an Early Riser

Get to bed early enough. The key to becoming an early riser is making sure you get enough rest at night. One way do this is to ensure you’re going to bed early enough. You can start going to bed early by ditching screen time and actually giving yourself a bedtime.

Keep your schedule pretty similar. Another way you can become an early riser is to keep your schedule consistent. Try not to deviate from the norm too much. For example, don’t stay out late every night and expect to wake easily in the morning. You need to keep your schedule pretty similar so your body can get used to going to bed on time and actually getting up early.

Set more than one alarm. In order to wake up, most people need to get OUT of bed. You can set several alarm clocks to help you accomplish this. One way would be to set an alarm on your phone to wake you up. The next step would be to set more than one alarm. Set an alarm that you physically have to get up and shut off. This will help you get out of bed and start moving.

Make yourself a nice pot of coffee. When it comes to becoming an early riser, you need an incentive for waking up early. If you have nothing to wake up to, it’s going to be harder to get out of bed. Pre-make yourself a nice pot of coffee for the morning and enjoy the process. If you don’t like coffee, make yourself your favorite beverage and get out of bed.

Get out of bed. The longer you stay in bed the harder it will be to actually get up. One way to become an early riser is to actually get out of bed. Do anything you can to convince yourself to get out of bed. It’ll be worth it in the long run.

Have a friend call you in the morning. If you decide that you are really having trouble getting out of bed in the morning, you need someone to call you. By having a friend call you, you’re going to have more of a reason to get out of bed.

Enjoy sleeping in once a week. By allowing yourself to sleep in once a week, you are rewarding yourself for doing such a good job every other day.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
