Tips for Keeping Sand Out of Everything at the Beach - Tips for keeping sand off of your blankets and towels, and tips for keeping sand out of your car.

There is nothing more irritating than sand in your shoes, car, luggage and everything in between when you have been on a beach vacation. These tips for keeping sand out of everything at the beach will keep you from cleaning sand for months to come. Beach vacations are amazing adventures for the whole family, and this year you can enjoy hem without bringing all of the sand home with you.

Tips for Keeping Sand Out of Everything at the Beach

Use a fitted sheet instead of beach blanket. This trick has made the rounds on social media a lot the last few years, but is a great option we have to mention. Allow the fitted sheet to tuck up around things like your cooler, a rock or something heavy enough to hold it down. It creates a lip around the sides of the blanket that will keep sand from blowing onto the blanket. This helps keep sand out of food when at the beach.

Use the on beach showers. These showers are great for rinsing the sand of your body. If you are lucky enough to visit a beach that has private showers for changing, you can even remove your suit and have a regular shower to remove the sand from you body and suit before getting back into your car.

Give kids water shoes instead of sandals. Sandals will allow sand to get all inside and over the kids feet. Water shoes will keep sand out of the inside, and they happen to be safer for running around the beach and in water. They will only need to be rinsed off properly before getting into the car.

Bring drying towels and beach towels. You’ll want beach towels to dry off with after you get out of the water, but those towels getting damp from wiping water off your body will actually cling to any sand on our body. Also bring a drying towel to brush the sand off your body after you dry.

Bring a sand bag for dirty items. A large trash bag in the back of your car is perfect for putting towels, bathing suits, and shoes into so you aren’t tracking sand all through your car.

Cover car seats with sheets in advance. So you aren’t vacuuming sand out of seats for months to come, cover your car seats with simple flat sheets before you get to the beach. Any sand remaining on your body will fall right off onto the sheet and be easy to remove from your car.

These tips for keeping sand out of everything when at the beach are sure to come in handy as you head to your fun family beach vacation this summer.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
