Want to maximize your Ibotta savings? Try these 8 ways to get more out of Ibotta.

These 8 ways to get more out of Ibotta will help you maximize your earnings on groceries and more through the Ibotta app.

There are many apps out there that can help you earn money and save it as well. Ibotta is definitely one of my favorites because it is one of the most efficient savings apps in my opinion and the money gets added almost instantly. You may already know how to use Ibotta, but I have found ways to get more out of Ibotta that helped me pinch those pennies even tighter. Here are my 8 ways to get more out of Ibotta.

8 Ways to Get More Out of Ibotta

Try to complete bonuses – The bonuses are where it’s at when it comes to earning more money on Ibotta. You can find them by going to your account on the app and checking out the bonus area. Sometimes, there are simple ones such as “redeem 3 rebates and get an extra $5” or brand bonuses that ask that you complete several offers/rebates in order to get them. In any case, I have made much of my extra money on Ibotta by completing the bonuses.

Buy at the most affordable store possible – Many Ibotta deals are available at multiple stores, so I always pick the store that has the lowest prices. Since you still get the same rebate regardless of what the store charges, you will be getting that item for a much lower cost this way. Sometimes you can even find rebates at the dollar store.

Recalculate the cost per unit – When comparing different items with Ibotta rebates, recalculate the cost per ounce after the rebate to make sure you are getting the best deal. The good thing about Ibotta is that their rebates usually allow you to buy one of several sizes or varieties. When I am picking a size, I will whip out my phone and decide which item will have the lowest cost per ounce after the rebate.

Take advantage of “any brand rebates” – One of the advantages of Ibotta is that they offer rebates for any brand of a particular type of food. They usually have several going on at a time, and they are often for items like milk, eggs, and produce that are hard to find coupons for. While these are usually only 25-50 cents, most weeks I can rack up several without changing my shopping plan.

Stick to your grocery budget – You will save more with Ibotta if you stick to your pre-Ibotta grocery budget. Then instead of just canceling out your extra grocery expenses, you can use your Ibotta earnings for bills or recreation.

Get a team going and add your friends – One way to make the savings add up for everyone is to get a team going. Each month, you can earn up to 5 bonuses on Ibotta simply for making individual and team purchases and redeeming a certain amount of rebates. The more people you have on your team redeeming, the faster you can make it add up. Additionally, Ibotta often runs extra bonuses in large amounts up to $20+ for adding team members who are active!

Pay attention to short-term offers – Sometimes Ibotta has offers and bonuses that are only good for a couple of days or just a weekend. I find that many of these bonuses are pretty good such as redeem any five rebates and get $3 extra that is currently on there. Try to plan your shopping trips around these times and check your app daily even if you aren’t planning a trip as you don’t want to miss out on these short-term offers from Ibotta.

Use Ibotta for non-grocery store shopping and online– Ibotta has really started adding a lot of non-grocery offers and even some that are online. Stores such as Jet offer deals where you can get $5 just for trying them out. A few months back, Hotels.com was offering a 10% savings if you booked through Ibotta. Currently, you can get Uber ride codes and up to $17 back if you ride with Uber 7 or more times this month.

Right now, you can earn an extra $10 if you sign up for Ibotta here.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
