Ancient Egypt Unit Study Resources including free ancient Egypt lapbooks and printables, as well as ancient Egypt videos, crafts and resources.

When I was a kid, one of my very favorite things to study was ancient Egypt. I remember in sixth grade, that we learned about Hieroglyphics and I learned how to do my name in them. That stuck with me all these years. I was fascinated by the embalming and spiritual process of death for the Egyptians and how the pyramids were built.

I would absolutely love a unit study on ancient Egypt if I were a kid and I might enjoy it as an adult, too! If you are putting together and ancient Egypt unit study, here are some resources.

PBS has a good lesson plan for grades 6-12 on Egypt’s Golden Age of technology.

Here is a great resource page for ancient Egypt for all ages from the Detroit Institute of Arts featuring social studies lesson, math lessons and even art lessons.

Ancient Egypt Lapbooks and Printables

Homeschool Share has a free Ancient Egypt Lapbook to use for your lessons. It looks like it might be geared for grades K-5.

Here is a Map of Ancient Egypt that is free to print from Layers of Learning.

Ancient Egypt Crafts, Experiments and Tutorials

Here is a simple Sundial you can make with clay, pencils and rocks from Otherwise Educating.

Ancient Egypt Videos and Clips

There are some good ancient Egypt videos on Watch Know learn for ages 5-18.

Discovery Channel’s “Queen Nefertiti” video is a very interesting documentary that is over an hour long for older kids.

The Egyptian Book of the Dead is another great video for talking about the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians surrounding death and spirituality.

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
