How to Make Flax Meal in a Blender: A quick and easy tutorial for making flax meal! Grind flax seeds in a blender to make your own flax meal or flax powder.

During the cold months I have oatmeal for breakfast. Once the weather warms up, I start having a berry smoothie each morning for breakfast. But no matter the weather, I always add flaxmeal to my breakfast. I like to add 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal to my oatmeal or smoothies because it is an easy way to add fiber, anti-oxidants, and healthy fats to my diet. You can read about more of the health benefits of flax seeds here.

This morning as I was getting ready to make my smoothie, I discovered that I was out of flax meal. I was about to do without, but then I remembered that I had Bob’s Red Mill Organic Golden Flaxseeds in my pantry and could make my own flax meal using my KitchenAid 5-Speed Diamond Blender.

It only takes 20 seconds to grind flax seeds in a blender and make flax meal (or flax powder as it is sometimes called). You can use brown flaxseeds or golden flaxseeds to make flax meal.

Ingredients:

1 cups of flaxseeds

Directions:

Place the flaxseeds in the blender pitcher. Blend on high (speed 5 on my KitchenAid Blender, but it may be 10 on your blender) for 20 seconds or until the seeds are ground and resemble powder.

Use as needed in recipes. Store unused flax meal in an airtight container.

Sorry I should really edit my comments before posting. I apologize for the lame typos…my auto-correct apparently loves to make me sound like a ding a ling 🤪

Thanks for the simple How To! I need a ground flax seeds for a recipe, and flax seed post made it really easy.
Also, in your description below the recipe I think you may have a typo: Scatch instead of scratch? Or maybe it was intended. If so, disregard.
Either way thanks again, and have a wonderful day!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
