Use this easy lemon pepper seasoning recipe to make your own lemon pepper spice to use in your recipes.

How to Make Lemon Pepper Seasoning - A quick and easy lemon pepper seasoning recipe.

My family enjoys the combination of lemon and pepper on a variety of meats and vegetables. Lemon and pepper brighten asparagus, Brussels sprouts, and green beans. Lemon pepper seasoning adds flavor to chicken, fish, and pork. While I love the flavor, I am not crazy about the additives that are found in some of the lemon pepper seasonings found in the store. The solution? Make it from scratch.

How to Make Lemon Pepper Seasoning

It is so easy to make lemon pepper seasoning! All you need is dried lemon peel, pepper, and salt.

We don’t live in lemon-country, so I use this dried lemon peel which can easily be found at your local grocery store. However, if you have time, a dehydrator, and lemons, you can make your own dried lemon peel.

I use coarse-ground pepper, but you can use whole peppercorns if you wish. Just grind them before you add them to the recipe.

My preferred salt to use is coarse sea salt, but you can use your favorite salt. If you use salt crystals, be sure that you grind them before you add the salt to the recipe.

This makes a little over 1/2 cup of the spice mix. You can store it in a small mason jar or another sealed container.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons dried lemon peel
  • 3 tablespoons coarse-ground pepper
  • 4 teaspoons coarse sea salt

Directions:

1. Add the lemon peel, pepper, and sea salt to a small mason jar or container with a lid.

2. Stir to combine or put the lid on the container and shake to combine.

3. Store in the pantry for up to 6 months.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
