I love a good crumb cake for dessert. This Mason Jar Crumb Cake recipe is a perfect individual serving size option that everyone will love! With classic cinnamon and sugar flavors, this mason jar coffee cake is a great choice for an extra special breakfast or brunch treat. It would also pair well with a cup of coffee as a mid-morning snack or to serve as dessert at your next dinner party or birthday party.
Mason jars are a great vessel for so many things, but this crumb cake recipe is definitely a favorite of ours. These 4-ounce mason jars are easy to find online year-round, but you could easily use any size jar and just adjust how much of the mixture you put into each one. Mason Jar Crumb Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2cup granulated sugar
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup light-brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 12 – 4 ounce Mason jars
- Spray cooking oil
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, sift together 1 1/2 cups flour, the granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
2. In a second bowl whisk together the egg, milk, canola oil, and vanilla.
3. Using a rubber spatula, fold dry ingredients into egg mixture.
4. Spray each mason jar with cooking oil.
5. Pour batter into each jar only filling half way.
6. In a medium bowl, combine remaining 2 1/2 cups flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
7. Pour melted butter over flour mixture, and toss with a rubber spatula until large crumbs form.
8. Top each jar with crumb topping.
9. Place all jars on a cookie sheet.
10. Bake in a preheated oven at 325 degrees for about 20-30 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
11. Allow the cakes to cool. The jars will be very hot.
12. Make the glaze by mixing sugar, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl. Mix well to ensure sugar is completely dissolved.
13. Drizzle glaze over the top of the crumb cake.
