Melissa is sharing her Snickerdoodle cookies recipe with us.
I love snickerdoodles! Not only are they delicious, but they are quite frugal too since you can make them from pantry staples.
Making snickerdoodles is one of my son’s favorite activities. I hand him a ball of dough and then he rolls it in the cinnamon-sugar before placing them on the cookie sheet. Sometimes I add a little cinnamon to the cookie dough instead of just on the outside to give it an even stronger cinnamon flavor.
Since our family is gluten-free, when I make snickerdoodles, I use the Gluten-Free Homemaker’s Snickerdoodle Cookie recipe. However, I realize most of you can use regular all-purpose flour, so I asked Melissa to share her recipe with us:
Snickerdoodle Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter softened
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Cinnamon Sugar for Rolling:
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar using an electric mixer.
- Slowly add in eggs, vanilla, salt, cream of tartar, and baking soda. Beat until just combined. Slowly add in flour and mix well.
- In a small bowl, combine the 4 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon.
- Scoop into 1 inch balls and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture. Place dough balls on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes. For a crunchier cookie, bake for 1-2 additional minutes.
