How fun do these rainbow sprinkles and St. Paddy’s Day themed shapes make this St. Patrick’s Day Chocolate Covered Pretzels Recipe? They would look great on your dessert spread after the corned beef is finished up or can be sent for a class party, to wish a friend some luck, or as a treat for your family. The kids will enjoy helping to dip and sprinkle theme.

St. Patrick’s Day Chocolate Covered Pretzels Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Pretzel rods
  • white chocolate morsels, white candy melts, or vanilla almond bark
  • Green candy melts
  • Yellow Candy Melts
  • Wilton Shamrock Sprinkles (Available at Michaels)
  • Rainbow Colored Sugar Sprinkles
  • Gold sugar sprinkles
  • Wilton Gold coin sprinkles (Available at Michaels)
  • Rainbow Colored Jimmies

Instructions:

1. Melt the candy coating according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the candy but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.

2. Pour candy coating over two-thirds of the pretzel rod and shake gently to remove excess. If applying sprinkles, do so immediately rotating the pretzel rods to coat all sides. Larger sprinkles work best if placed individually.pretzel rod in melted candy melts

3. Place pretzel rod on waxed paper or cooling rack. (Cook’s notes: Waxed paper makes for easier release.)

4. If drizzling with additional colored candy melts, allow initial candy coating to set completely. Then, use a spoon or fork to drizzle candy coating over the pretzel rods. Before the pretzel sets, gently pick it up and move to clean wax paper.

5. Let pretzel rods dry completely before packaging or serving.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Placing in the refrigerator may cause the pretzel rods to soften.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
