Earth Day is April 22. Here are some ways to “celebrate” the Earth and green living. Thanks to Mission to Save for rounding up these Earth Day freebies and deals.

Target -Sunday, 4/21, Target will give away 1.5 million reusable bags at stores across the country, as well as coupon books that offer over $40 in savings. 250,000 of the reusable bags, will also contain samples of sustainable products, including method Dish Soap, Annie’s Bunny Grahams, Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent and Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Cream. Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores – FREE trees on 4/22? When I called 800 # the customer service rep said, yes they would be giving out Free tress on 4/22. But I called both my local stores and they said no. This year they are giving out packets of tomato seeds, while supplies last- starting now. So definitely call your store for participation.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
