Here are 12 homemade Christmas wreaths to add a touch of holiday cheer to your porch this year.
In 2001 we moved to an old neighborhood in Virginia. I immediately fell in love with the hardwood floors, lead pane windows, and spiral staircase as soon as I walked in the foyer. I just knew it would be a delight to decorate. And it was. I had so much fun winding garland around the banister and placing holly on the fireplace mantles. However, when I went to buy wreaths, I was surprised by how expensive they were. If I had just wanted one wreath for the front door, I wouldn’t have minded spending $20 – $30 for it. However, I didn’t want just one wreath; I wanted lots of wreaths – on the doors, over the mantles, and in the front windows. To make my vision come to fruition without blowing the budget, I realized I would have to make the wreaths myself.
I was a little nervous because I had never made wreaths before, but I was delighted to find that making homemade wreaths is actually quite easy. I used fake wreaths that I found for 60% off at Michaels, I attached pine cones and berry picks with florist wire, and then added a fancy bow made with wire ribbon. They were simple, yet elegant. This year, I will pull them out, fluff them up, and use them again.
