We may not be able to completely remove stress from our lives, but we can choose to minimize it. Not sure how? Give these 10 Ways to Reduce Stress a try!

When it comes to raising quality of life, relaxation is King. Stress is the enemy and it will sneak up on even the most laid back individuals. It leads to irritation, frustration, and even medical problems. So how do we get rid of stress? While we will never completely eradicate stress, we certainly can respond and minimize it. Fortunately for us, there are tons of easy ways to bring our stress levels down. Here are just 10 Ways to Reduce Stress.

10 Ways to Reduce Stress

Take a Walk– Walking will cause your body to release all kinds of stress busting things. From feel good endorphins to stress busting muscle action, walking is a quick yet powerful way to cut back on your stress.

Sing a Song– Singing is another great way to reduce your stress. Singing takes your mind and your body away from your troubles and some think that it creates a chemical change in your body as well. Regardless, singing feels really good and puts happy feelings at the forefront.

Play with a Child– Children can bring our stress levels up but they can also relax us. The key is to invest in what they are doing and allow yourself to become a kid again for a few minutes. Sit down and have tea, crash cars, sing Karaoke and visit Walt Disney. It can do wonders for your state of mind.

Dance– Get in front of a full length mirror and bust a move. I dare you to be stressed after five minutes of dancing like a fool.

Say No– One of the most common sources of stress is saying yes when you know you should be saying no. Whether it is a stranger, friends or family, sometimes politely declining is the best thing to do. Don’t be afraid to say no when you need a break.

Schedule Your Rest– Like our important tasks each day, rest is important. We schedule one but not the other. That makes no sense. From now on, schedule a time to stop and take a break each day. Put aside a day each week to recharge and take it easy. You will be shocked at how much better your life will look after a month or two of doing this.

Perfect Your Sleep Schedule– Sleep is extremely important and it is a huge source of stress when you are not getting enough of it. Go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time each day. You will get into a nice routine that will lower your stress levels considerably.

Take a Hot Bath– A hot bath is a quick and easy way to de-stress after a long day. Add some scents or bath salts to really amp up the comfort level.

Get a Pet– Pets are proven to lower stress levels in some terminally ill patients and they almost certainly have the same effect on us. Unless your pet is a cobra, they are probably going to make you feel pretty relaxed having them around.

Take a Vacation– When all else fails, get away for a short vacation. Nobody is saying you have to travel to Europe (though I would recommend that if you are able) but at least head to your local getaway spot for a weekend. There are generally plenty of things to do nearby that don’t cost a ton of money. Look them up and lower that stress level!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
