Enjoy the local nature – Grab your honey and head out to walk the local nature trails or parks. If your local city doesn’t have any, check any state parks in your area. Most state parks are totally free to enjoy so you can walk and talk with no costs!

Catch a flick – Heading to the theatre might cost you money, but if your town does a summer movie night? You can see one for free! Most are done in city parks so be sure to bring a blanket for the ground or chairs to sit in then sit back and enjoy the flick!

Hit up a festival – All across the nation, small towns and big cities alike, all hold fun festivals each summer. Find one or two near you and head out with your sweetheart. You’ll enjoy seeing the sites and not having to worry about spending any money.

Have a backyard party…for two – Who says BBQ’s have to be for a group? Send the kids to a friend or family members house for the night, grill out an awesome dinner, and just sit enjoying each other’s company.

Go on a budget camping trip – Do you have a friend that owns some property? If so, see if they will let you and your partner camp for a night or two. If so, grab your tent and head out to the woods! There are not too many more things in the world more romantic than a soft fire, the night sky, and your love beside you!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
