Add some fun to your day with these simple ways to get more belly laughs.

Did you know laughing is good for your health? Add some fun to your day and boost your health with these 5 simple ways to get more belly laughs!

When most of us laugh, we probably never consider that doing so is not only great for adding some fun into our lives, but also very important for our health. It’s so important that there have even been medical studies that suggest it is even considered a low impact cardiovascular workout. I even found a place online called the LOU- or Laughter Online University that helps people recognize the importance of it and why we all need it.

So if laughter is so important, how can we get more of it into our lives, especially in times of stress when laughing might be hard? Here are 5 simple ways to get more belly laughs!

5 Simple Ways to Get More Belly Laughs

Use online tools available – There are so many ways to get in some simple laughs in online. I like to watch funny YouTube videos when I can. I can almost get lost on that site with funny stuff! Just type in what you like to laugh with- animals are always where I start! One word of warning, though- don’t read the comments on videos. There is often a lot of negativity left on them, even in seemingly benign videos.

Another way to use the internet as a place of joy is to make a Pinterest board for all things that bring you joy. When I’m feeling the need to laugh, I just look through my board of happiness.

Call that one friend that always makes you laugh – Most of us are lucky to have at least one friend or family member that makes everything light hearted and knows just what to say to change our attitudes about cruddy situations. Make sure to call them to not only get a laugh or two but also enrich your connection. Maybe some of that wonderful positivity will rub off?

Spend time with little ones – Kids have an amazing ability to make us remember the simpler things. They also really do say the darndest things, too! Spend time with kids when you can to get a dose of simple fun and lots of laughs. If you don’t have kids you can spend time with, act simply childish sometimes with a spouse – do a pillow fight, laugh at immature jokes and even play simple child-like games like tag or hide and seek.

Get a pet if you don’t have one – Other than those I love, pets are one way I really find a lot of laughs in my corner. Their simple energy and the way we personify them has me laughing all day long. If you can’t get a pet, go spend time at a shelter!

Remove negative forces from your life as you can – Sometimes, it’s hard to see laughable moments through all the negativity we are thrown every day. Take breaks from watching the news or listening to the radio. Unfollow always negative people on your social media channels. Find ways to get away from others in nature on occasion. Sometimes you find the best laughs when you aren’t around anyone.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
