These simple ways to cut daily stress are strategies you can start using today!
Most days can quickly become overwhelming if we don’t know how to manage the stress. I used to live in a state of constant anxiety because I wasn’t very skilled in this area of my life, and I blamed the things that happened to me as the source. While I have had some periods of my life that have been extra stressful, my life took a turn when I decided to focus on making stress management a daily habit. Here are some of my tips for 6 simple ways to cut daily stress.
6 Simple Ways to Cut Daily Stress
Learn to say no and don’t over do things – For ‘people pleasers’ saying NO may be extra hard, but the less you fill your schedule with unnecessary itinerary, the less stress you will probably feel. Keep things as simple as you can so you have more time to breathe and more time for the things you already have scheduled.
Fit in 10-15 minutes of relaxation every day – I like to fit in some relaxation time at least once a day. Often this is at lunch time or even in the early part of the morning before anyone else is up, but I prioritize this time for myself. It really helps me keep my inner peace. It doesn’t have to be more than just some yoga stretches or even some quiet time without outside distractions. Pop in some earbuds and listen to some relaxing music! Whatever you need to do to find some quiet mind time.
Eat right and stay active – One of biggest ways I combat stress is with exercise. I make time for this even if it’s at odd times because I am able to clear my head when I run. Eating right also helps because it helps your body work at its optimum level keeping you energized and sharp.
Try not to get stuck on the small stuff – In times of stress we seem to gravitate towards the small stuff, but doing so creates its own cycle of stress. Instead, focus on the larger things you need to tackle and let the small details work themselves out as they often do.
Be willing to delegate duties – I tend to take on too much personally and then before I know it, I am swamped and others could have been helping me if only I asked for it instead of being stubborn. Asking for help or even delegating some duties to others in professional or personal situations can help ease a lot of stress and in the end, saves everyone time. It also allows everyone to shine at what they are best at, making the task more efficient.
Make time for fun– If you schedule one more thing, make sure it’s fun. It is extremely important that we spend time doing something we enjoy to manage our daily stress. This can be a sport, hobby, craft or even fun events like hikes or concerts. You don’t have to do this daily or even weekly, but make sure you do it often enough to give yourself a break.
