8 DIY Modest Costumes for Teen Girls- Are you looking for a fun yet modest costume for a teen girl this Halloween? These 8 DIY costumes are quite creative!

In the last few years, I have noticed that costumes for girls, teens and even women have gotten to the point where it’s no longer about fun outfits like a princess or an animal, but a new spin has been added. This spin is usually in the form of throwing modesty out the window. When it first started happening with the adult costumes, I wasn’t super concerned because after all, these are adults and they are more than welcome to dress up however they want and however they feel confident. However, when searching for a costume for my tween girl last year, I noticed that it was getting to the point of excess when the costumes for girls, tweens, and teens were also less modest than in years prior.

Dressing a teen and tween is a struggle to begin with because there is so much pressure for them to grow up, explore their growing independence, and show their personal style. This often leads to teens and their parents clashing when it comes to clothing options, and costumes are no exception. If you are looking for a more modest costume that is still something your teen might like, here are 8 DIY Modest Costumes for teen girls to give you some ideas.

You could go as Frida Khalo with this hair tutorial from Refinery 29. Just add some makeup and a thrift store dress and you are set to go.

Clover & Dot has a super cool and easy to do Wind-Up Doll Costume that includes a YouTube Video on how to pull off the doll makeup.

Put on the girl power with this awesome and super simple Rosie the Riveter Costume from What I Wore. It requires just a few simple elements you probably have at home, anyway!

Go as Deb from Napoleon Dynamite with this simple costume idea from PopSugar. Just a trip to the thrift store and a side pony tail is all you need. This is a perfect last minute costume.

Do you have a Hunger Games fan? Have them go as Effie Trinket with this great tutorial from Cable Car Couture.

While little girls might get into the big ball gowns that Disney princesses wear, older girls might enjoy this Belle (in the blue dress) costume from She Knows.

One of my favorite films is the movie A League of Thier Own and this great DIY Rockford Peach costume idea from Andi B. Goode is spot on!

Go for what every teen really loves these days and make this Instagram costume. This cute last minute idea from Thirty Handmade Days is a perfect costume and photo prop!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
