how to make lavender and geranium bath bombs - recipe and tips

I want to show you how to relax and unwind by showing you how to make Bath Bombs. These lavender and geranium bath bombs give an amazing floral scent to your hot bath and create a very relaxing at-home spa experience. With some basic DIY beauty supplies (some can even be found in your pantry) you can make your own bath bombs in any shape, size, or scent you like in just a few minutes. They also make a lovely gift when you fill up a pretty jar with them.

You can make small or medium bath bombs in silicone molds or large round ones in the metal bath bomb molds, but you can also make them in muffin pans and other household items. Here are 6 household items you can use as bath bomb molds.

  • 1/4 cup Epsom salts
  • 1/4 cup  cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup citric acid
  • 1 Tablespoon dried lavender buds
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops geranium essential oil
  • purple mica powder-optional

  • bath bomb molds

Directions:

  1. Melt coconut oil, 30 seconds in the microwave should do it.
  2. Mix together baking soda, Epsom salts, cornstarch, citric acid, and melted coconut oil until well combined.
  3. Spritz with a few sprays of water, mix with your hand so that you can feel the consistency. Keep adding water until the mixture is just barely damp but holds together when you squeeze it in your hand. You don’t want it too wet or it will begin fizzing before you are ready!how to make homemade bath bombs

  5. Press into your mold firmly, use the back of a spoon to be sure its pressed in tight. Silicone molds are easy to work with and clean up but if you don’t have one on hand you can use a muffin tin sprayed with non-stick.
  6. Allow the bath bombs to dry for 24 hours.
  7. Gently pop the bath bombs from the mold and place in a container with a tight-fitting lid.

To use the bath bombs:

Add 1-3 bath bombs to your bath water, depending on how large your molds are.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
