Whether it’s from fleas, hot weather, a food allergy or something else sometimes your dog’s coat and skin can just use an extra boost of moisture. They can always use a good smelling bath! While I used essential oils, I kept the oils at a minimum because dogs can be sensitive to the oils. I did my research and stayed with those that are known to be safe for dogs. The other benefit of the oils I chose is that they are also calming to dogs, which is a big plus for those that are stressed during bath time.

Directions:

  1. Cut goats milk soap up into approximately 1”x 1” pieces, this will make it melt faster and more evenly.

  2. Place soap chunks and coconut oil in a small pan, if you make DIY beauty recipes very often it is a good idea to invest in a decent quality pan to reserve for just that.diy dog shampoo bar with essential oils in pan

  3. Heat soap base and coconut oil over medium-low heat and stir frequently just until melted. You could also do this in the microwave in a large glass measuring cup if you prefer.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in the bentonite clay until well mixed.diy dog shampoo bar recipe with essential oil

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
