Like so many things in life, cleaning gets pushed to the side (much like the junk sitting on some counter somewhere in your home). When you find that you finally have some time to clean, it can easily take up an entire afternoon. No one wants to spend their time worrying if guests will drop by and the house isn’t presentable. A day off isn’t really a day off if you spend several hours cleaning your home, either. How do people who have homes that seem to always be in place and smell lovely on top of it all do it? They often follow simple daily cleaning tasks that take just mere minutes. Yet, these tasks can make a huge difference! If you would like to join the club, here are 5 Easy Daily Cleaning Habits That Will Change Your Home.
Easy Daily Cleaning Habits That Will Change Your Home
Scrape and rinse each dish no matter what. You may not have time to do a full wash, but if you scrape and rinse them off at least, you can be sure that when you do have time to wash them, it will be a piece of cake. Besides making your job easier, it keeps your home smelling nice as well as being more visually appealing.
Wipe as you go throughout the day. When you are in the kitchen and you make a sandwich, wipe up the crumbs. Wipe the stove as you cook. Wipe off the bathroom counter of any mess you make while brushing your teeth or applying makeup. If you get into the habit of wiping all day long, your home will stay much more clean.
Have a central organization place in your home for papers, reminders, and mail. Place anything you or your kids get into a container throughout the day in one location. At the end of the day, place reminders on your calendar, disregard anything that doesn’t apply to you, and set up payment for bills. If there is something in your stack of papers that applies later, place it in a second bin and do the same thing at the end of each week.
Make your bed every day. One way to make your bedroom look much better is to make your bed. While you are taking your morning shower, allow it to air out and then make it after you get dressed each morning. This will pull together the whole room.
Get into the habit of hanging up clothes you want to wear again as soon as you take them off or place them in hampers right away if they need to be washed. This one is somehow so hard for me to do, but when I clean my room I find that the majority of things I am picking up are clothes and shoes. The biggest issue then becomes the question of whether or not it’s dirty. I have probably washed some things 3 times without every wearing it once because of the clothes clutter on my floor.
