Essential Oils for New Moms - These essential oils for new moms with sleep, immunity, clarity, and feeling run down to help you through those first weeks.

Whether you are preparing for yourself or a friend, these essential oils for new moms are sure to help make this transition easier. From postpartum stress, lack of sleep and even physical wear and tear essential oils can be a huge beneficial addition to your daily routine. They help with sleep, immune system, clarity, and feeling run down. Utilize these essential oils throughout your home for an easier postpartum time.

Essential Oils for New Moms

Peppermint: Peppermint is a standard to always have on hand. Not only will it help with pain relief and nausea, it is great for boosting your mood and helping you focus. New moms will get much less sleep, so it is important to have something that will uplift you and help you stay awake. Peppermint essential oil is great for helping you to stay awake on minimal sleep.

Lavender: Lavender is a great choice for calming and helping with rest. Diffuse throughout your home to help both mom and baby relax and be able to nap or sleep easier. Lavender and chamomile are both commonly found together in baby products for the soothing effect they have.

Tea Tree Oil: Postpartum brings about a lot of changes in your body. Whether you use this on your skin or in shampoo to help with dry skin and irritation, or you create household cleansers tea tree oil is a great choice. It’s anti-fungal and anti-microbial qualities are great for disinfectant use throughout your home. Especially nice is the lack of chemical and fear of it harming your baby.

Chamomile: Chamomile is excellent for uplifting mood, relaxing and help with sleep. When you are struggling with emotions and exhaustion, this is a much needed essential oil to have on hand.

Lemon: Lemon much like peppermint is a multi-purpose essential oil that is needed in every household. From brightening your mood and offering a fresh scent throughout your home lemon is perfect in the diffuser. It is also used widely in household cleansers to create a chemical free anti-bacterial and fresh smelling product.

These essential oils for a new mom are perfect for helping her cope with frustrations and exhaustion in the early days and weeks. Essential oil use is one easy way to help boost your mood and brighten your home with ease. Postpartum depression is a real issue, and must be treated professionally. While essential oils are excellent for helping with symptoms, they do not replace proper medical care in any of these instances. Make sure to always seek a medical professional before use.

Peppermint is known to dry up your milk supply. I would be careful with this if you are planning on breastfeeding!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
