7 Essential Oils to Relieve Allergies - These 7 essential oils can help you sooth allergy symptoms such as inflammation and itchiness.

Do you suffer from allergies? Itchy and watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, and congestion can all make allergy sufferers quite uncomfortable and looking for relief. The good news is, essential oils can help soothe the symptoms of allergies and make them more manageable. Take a look below at 7 essential oils to relieve allergies and help you feel your best, no matter what nature throws at you! Here is how you can get started.

7 Essential Oils to Relieve Allergies

1. Lavender oil.
Lavender is a natural anti-histamine as well as a natural anti-inflammatory. If you are experiencing itchiness or inflammation as a result of allergies, lavender can help. Apply some to the temples, cheeks, and forehead, or diffuse into your space to find relief. Some users like to place a few drops on the soles of their feet before bedtime as well.

2. Peppermint oil.
Peppermint oil can offer pain relief as well as act as an anti-inflammatory. Apply a few drops to the base of the neck to help soothe allergy symptoms and feel more comfortable. You can even diffuse it if you wish, or apply it to the soles of the feet. Peppermint oil is strong, so don’t apply it around the eyes or nasal area as it could be irritating.

3. Eucalyptus oil.
If your allergies have led to congestion, eucalyptus oil can help. Just inhaling a few drops can help clear congestion and get you breathing easier in no time. You can also apply a few drops to the neck or feet so you can enjoy relief even while you sleep.

4. Cypress oil.
Cypress oil is believed to help regulate your breathing and even sooth a minor cough. Inhaling cypress oil or diffusing it are the best ways to find relief. Cypress oil is a rich and woodsy scent, which many people find to be soothing and relaxing as well.

5. Chamomile oil.
Roman chamomile oil can help with inflammation and can help relive headaches that are a result of allergies and swollen sinuses. Diffuse it or apply it to pulse points or the base of the neck to start feeling some relief.

6. Myrtle oil.
Myrtle oil is not one the of main oils most people reach for, but it does have some fantastic benefits. Myrtle oil is wonderful for reducing inflammation, and can help keep sinus areas clear. This helps you breathe easier and relieves any head pressure or pain. Just apply a few drops to the base of the neck or inhale/diffuse for relief.

7. Frankincense oil.
The rich and earthy smell of frankincense oil can help reduce mucus and leave you breathing a little easier. Frankincense oil is  great for diffusing in your home during allergy season, or you can inhale it from your palms to find relief.

Don’t let allergies get you down this season. Instead, use essential oils to help soothe the symptoms of allergies and keep those airways clear! They will not only help with inflammation, but can leave you feeling more relaxed and pain free in the process. Give these 7 essential oils for allergies a try and see what results you can achieve.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
