5 Fantastic Health Benefits of Bone Broth- Have you tried bone broth? Here are 5 ways that drinking this nutrient-rich broth can benefit your health.

It’s likely that you’ve heard a lot about bone broth lately. It’s a new health trend that’s been gaining momentum. You may be thinking it’s just a fad, but in fact bone broth is full of really helpful nutrients! It can help improve so many areas of your health! You may be surprised by these 5 Fantastic Health Benefits of Bone Broth!

If you’re making your own bone broth from scratch, that’s great! Whether you choose to use chicken or beef bones is up to you. Each provides similar benefits, but slightly different flavors. Whichever you use, the more natural the animal it came from, the more it can help you. When choosing chicken bones, it’s ideal if they come from an organic free-range chicken. If you’re going to use beef bones, it’s best if they are organic and grass-fed.

5 Fantastic Health Benefits of Bone Broth

1. Great Source of Collagen- Did you know how critical collagen is to having healthy and beautiful skin, hair, and nails? Collagen is the protein that makes your skin, hair, and nails smooth and strong. It also aids your skin in replacing old, dead skin cells with fresh new ones. As we get older our bodies produce less and less collagen. As a result, taking collagen supplements is a great way to combat wrinkles and other signs of aging. Luckily, one of the health benefits of bone broth is that it’s full of collagen! After drinking it regularly for a while you’ll see your hair, skin, and nails looking so much better!

2. Supports Your Immune System- A great way to give your immune system a boost is with bone broth! Bone broth is full of nutrients and minerals. In fact, bone broth is so full of nutrients that it can help your body to fight off colds or even the flu! So during the cold season, it might be a good idea to start your hearty soups with a base of bone broth instead of regular stock!

3. Good for Your Joints- One of the wonderful health benefits of bone broth is that it’s full of nutrients that help your joints. It can help reduce inflammation and joint pain, and even reduces your chance of developing osteoarthritis! That’s because bone broth is full of glucosamine and chondroitin, both of which are powerful joint-aiding nutrients. So if you suffer from arthritis or just have a joint that tends to ache after workouts, start drinking bone broth daily! It can help give you great relief!

4. Aids Your Gut- Bone broth is also a great gut aid! It can help reduce inflammation in your gut and all the collagen in it improves your gut’s health. In fact, bone broth has been claimed to be very helpful for people with leaky gut syndrome. It can help heal holes in your gut, helping reduce incidences of intestinal distress, including constipation.

5. Helps Your Liver- Your liver works hard every day to keep your body safe from toxins that enter your body. To do that hard job, it needs glycine and proline, two amino acids. That’s why it’s great that another of the health benefits of bone broth is that it’s full of both glycine and proline! This is extra helpful when you consider that only a few foods contain proline and your body can only manufacture a little of it on its own. All you have to do is drink bone broth and you won’t have to worry about having enough glycine and proline available for your liver to use!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
