I have a serious infatuation with owls. I don’t think it’s at the point where I need to check into rehab, but it’s getting there. So, I was doing some serious window shopping at Home Goods when I saw them: beautiful, ceramic plates with a black owl. As soon as I saw them, I knew they were mine. On the way home my little brain was spinning of how I could create a classic, but Halloweenish tablescape. And so, the Owl Themed Halloween Tablescape evolved.
Owl Themed Halloween Tablescape
Supplies:
- 4 ceramic plates with a black owl (Home Goods)
- 1 Black Feather Boa
- 4 Black Chargers
- Silverware
- 4 Tall Glasses or Beer Glasses
- Zombie Straw Stirrers
- 4 White or Cream Napkins
- White & Gold Pitcher for Flowers (You can use a similar vase)
- 4 Black Angel Wings (These are for the back of the chairs. You can order them here.)
- 4 Halloween-related purple glass bottles (See my tutorial below.)
- Assorted Halloween decorations (Not too gory, but fun and classy.)
- Black & White Wrapping Paper
*This is based on a place setting for four people.
Instructions:
- First, roll out the wrapping paper on your table. You guys know all about my love for using wrapping paper instead of a tablecloth or a runner. I think it is the BEST way to not only protect your table but also give it a nice pop!
- Next, you will set your table. Since I am setting this for a party of four, I will set out the chargers, followed by the owl plates, silverware, and glassware. You can always feel free to mix this up with a different style of glass or even plates. I am digging these plates. These plates give you a Halloween feel, but still on a classy level. And since I am not a HUGE Halloween fan, this is a nice combination of style and holiday.
- Following the setting of the table, you want to work on the centerpiece. I am using a smaller, table to create an intimate setting, so I don’t have a lot of space. I am keeping the center of table simple by just adding a black feather boa to run down the middle of the town. I then placed a White and Black (with a Gold bottom) pitcher in the center of the table. I picked up a few fall (fake) hydrangeas from Hobby Lobby. Followed by a few cream and black pumpkin decorations (also picked up at Hobby Lobby) completes this look.
- Last, but not least, strap on the black angel wings to each chair. Yes, this is going to blooooow your guests’ minds away!
And just for fun, my guests will be able to have a souvenir to take home. I picked up four colored glass bottles at Target (with a clearance price of $2 bucks each!!). You can get a similar set here.
I also picked up Halloween Wine Labels from JoAnn’s. You can get a similar set here. Just peel off each label and evenly place on each bottle. Be sure you smooth out each side for wrinkles.
And there you have it! A beautiful, classy Halloween tablescape that will work for everyone!

Wonderful Halloween table. Loved all of your ideas. Your plates are gorgeous! I also used the black wings on chairs in a tablescpae a couple of weeks ago called “Halloween Angel”. I love the idea of the black wings.
