Making place settings can be super easy and you can use all kinds of things to do it. If you are having a fall or winter party, using a simple pinecone makes a wonderful holder! Simply collect a few from outside, give them a nice wash in the sink, and allow them to dry. Then, you can print out place cards and put names on them to create a frugal and decorative Pinecone Place Card Holder for each guest at your table!

Pinecone Place Card Holder Tutorial

Materials Needed:

  • pinecones for each place setting
  • Printable Place Cards
  • cardstock
  • scissors

If you do not have pine trees around, you reach out to family and friends. You can also purchase pinecones at craft stores or even on Amazon.

Directions:

1. Click this link to print out your Printable Place Cards.
2. Write in your guest’s name.
3. Pop the place cards in between the layers of a pinecone.
4. Set a Pinecone Place Card Holder at each place setting around your table.

The place cards are best printed on cardstock. However, if you do not have cardstock and do not want to buy any, there is a crafters trick to make it work. Simply print them out on normal paper. Then, using index cards, paper plates, or any type of thicker paper product you have on hand, cut out pieces the same size as the place cards. Adhere them together with a small amount of school or crafters glue. Place under a book or something else that is flat and heavy and allow to fully dry.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
