Crescent dough wrapped around chicken, spicy seasonings, cream cheese, and chicken makes an amazing BBQ Chicken Roll-Ups Recipe that will be the hit of every family get together, sports party, and holiday buffet. But with some fresh veggies and dip on the side, I can guarantee my kids and hubby will gobble this up for a dinner any night of the week!

BBQ Chicken Roll-Ups Recipe

These barbecue chicken roll-ups make a hearty appetizer, filling snack, or easy dinner.

Yields: 8 Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 chicken breast, cooked and diced
  • 1 package crescent roll dough, refrigerated 8 count
  • Chopped green onion, barbecue sauce, and ranch dressing (optional garnish)

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.
  3. (If you don’t have a baking mat, heat the oven to 375 and reduce baking time.)
  4. Mix together the cream cheese, garlic, chili powder, and barbecue sauce until well combined.
  5. Stir in cheese and chicken and set mixture aside.
  6. On a nonstick surface (baking mat or parchment paper), roll out the crescent roll dough to one large rectangular sheet.
  7. Use your fingers to press the seams of the dough to remove the perforations and make a single, uncut rectangle.
  8. Spread the chicken mixture over the dough to all the edges except leave a 1/2 inch of dough along the top long side uncovered by the chicken mixture.
  9. Start at the bottom long side of the dough and roll the dough onto itself just as you would cinnamon rolls.  You’re going to form one long tube. Roll all the way to the top side of the dough and press that uncovered 1/2 inch of dough into the tube so that there is no seam.
  10. Slice the tube into 8 equal parts and arrange them onto the silicone baking mat on the prepared pan.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 13 – 17 minutes or until the dough is lightly brown.
  12. Remove the rolls from the pan and drizzle with barbecue sauce and ranch. Sprinkle with green onion and serve warm.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
