Instant Pot Ham Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 (7 to 8 pound) bone-in ham
- 1 (20 ounces) can sliced pineapples, drained with juice reserved
- 1 ½ cup water
Supplies Needed:
- 8 quart Instant Pot
- Toothpicks, to attach pineapples
Important: This recipe requires an 8 quart (or larger) Instant Pot. A ham larger than 8 pounds is not likely to fit in an 8 quart Instant Pot without removing the ham from the bone.
Directions:
- Test to make sure your ham will fit into your electric pressure cooker with the trivet.
- Place trivet into the pressure cooker. Add water and reserved pineapple juice.
- Attach pineapples to ham using toothpicks. Put ham on top of the trivet.
- Close the pressure cooker and set the value to sealing. Set the pressure cooker to manual or pressure cook on high for 30 minutes. When the cycle is complete, let the pressure cooker naturally release for 10 minutes before setting the valve to quick release.
- Carefully lift the ham from the pressure cooker using the trivet. Remove pineapple and toothpicks before slicing.
Note: If you want to glaze your ham after cooking in the pressure cooker, preheat your oven broiler. Place the ham on a baking sheet or casserole dish. Cover with desired glaze and place under the broiler until crisp, 5 to 10 minutes depending on the distance of the ham from the broiler. Add additional glaze in layers during the broil time if desired but do not overcook.
