This rapidly roasted cauliflower recipe is simple and delicious! Roasted cauliflower is an easy, healthy side dish that can be made in a flash.

roasted cauliflower with spices

Cauliflower is a vegetable that can be prepared in a variety of ways, but my favorite way to cook it is to roast it in the oven. Roast cauliflower with olive oil to give it a crispy texture and nutty flavor.

How to Roast Cauliflower

Roasting veggies is a great way to make them crispy and delicious. The cauliflower will roast up quickly at 450 degrees Fahrenheit, with the process taking about 15 minutes.

I like to drizzle olive oil over the cauliflower before sprinkling the spices over the florets, but you can use whatever oil you prefer. I use 1 – 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil for each pound of cauliflower.

You can customize the seasoning with what you have on hand. I usually plan to use 2- 3 teaspoons of spices per pound of cauliflower florets.

Basic Directions for Roasting Cauliflower

  • Start by cutting your head of cauliflower into bite-size florets.
  • Place the florets on a baking sheet with raised sides.
  • Drizzle the oil over the florets. Toss to coat.
  • Sprinkle the spices you wish to use over the florets. Toss to coat.
  • Place your tray in the oven and roast for 8 minutes. Remove and toss the florets. Place the tray back in the oven and cook for an additional 6 minutes or until the florets begin to turn brown on the edges.

What spices taste best on cauliflower?

Since cauliflower has a mild flavor, it makes a wonderful base for your favorite spices. In my recipe below, I primarily use garlic powder and onion powder, but my family also loves it when I season cauliflower with Cajun Seasoning and Chipotle Seasoning.

How to Prevent Mushy Cauliflower

Be sure not to overcook your vegetables when roasting them – this will make them mushy and less flavorful. I roast cauliflower at high temperatures so the florets get a slightly crisp exterior. I cook them just long enough that the center of the florets is fork-tender.

Prepping Cauliflower

Prepping your cauliflower ahead of time and storing it in the fridge will make cooking this dish faster on busy weeknights. Wash and dry the head of cauliflower. Then cut it into bite-size florets. Store the florets in a resealable bag in the refrigerator.

This dish is so quick and easy and cooks up beautifully in the oven. I like to roast it with a little salt, pepper, some onion powder, and garlic powder for an extra punch of flavor. Try out this recipe for roasted cauliflower tonight!

You can cut this recipe in half if you don’t want such a large batch.

How long can I store Roasted Cauliflower?

Roasted cauliflower will last about 5 days in your refrigerator in a sealed container without any changes in its taste or texture.

You can freeze roasted cauliflower for up to 6 months if properly packaged and sealed.

How to Freeze Roasted Cauliflower:

You can freeze the leftover cauliflower. Once the cauliflower has cooled, you can place the roasted cauliflower in a freezer bag or a lidded container. You can store it in the freezer for up to 6 months.

How to Reheat Roasted Cauliflower:

The amount of time it takes to reheat cooked cauliflower depends on the amount of cauliflower you are trying to reheat, the size and shape of your dish, and your particular microwave.

1. Place cauliflower in a microwave-safe dish

2. Microwave it for 2 minutes on high power.

3. Stir the cauliflower. Then check the cauliflower to see if it is heated through. If it is, serve immediately.

4. If it is not heated through, place the dish back in the microwave oven and heat for another minute on high power.

5. Stir the cauliflower. Then check the cauliflower to see if it is heated through. If it is, serve immediately. If not, repeat step 4 until it is.

You can also reheat roasted cauliflower on a stove, oven, or air fryer until heated through.
