how to make honey glazed ham in a slow cooker

This slow cooker honey glazed ham recipe is so easy to make!

Easy crock pot honey glazed ham recipe.

Often when buying ham for a holiday dinner, people buy a bigger ham than they need. When buying a ham with a bone in it, you should plan on 1/2 pound per person. So a 7-pound ham should be more than enough for 12 guests.

You can save money by buying a whole ham that has not been sliced. I also don’t buy spiral sliced hams because they tend to dry out faster than uncut hams. However, I do like to make 1/2 inch deep cuts in my hams, so that the glaze can get in there and add more flavor to the ham.

If your ham doesn’t fit in your Crock-Pot you can cut the ham so that it does. If your ham is too tall for the lid to close properly, you can either cut it so it does or place foil over the top of your slow cooker.

Ingredients:

  • 1⁄2 cup water
  • 1 medium cooked ham
  • 1⁄4 cup honey
  • 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

1. Pour the water into the bottom of your Crock-Pot or slow cooker.

2. Place the ham in the Crock-Pot. Place the lid on top and cook on high for 1 hour. If your lid doesn’t fit well, place foil over the top of your slow cooker.

3. Add honey, brown sugar, and cinnamon to a small pot. Stir to combine. Cook the mixture over medium heat until it reaches a boil.

4. Drizzle the honey mixture over the ham.

5. Put the lid back on the slow cooker and lower the temperature on the slow cooker to low heat and cook for an additional 3 hours.

Ham serving tip: Don’t put out all of the ham on the platter. Cut enough for your guests, but keep the rest covered in the slow cooker so it doesn’t dry out. You can slice more ham and put it out as needed.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
