Ways to Streamline Back to School Breakfasts- No need to panic when it comes to feeding the kids before school. These tips will help breakfast run smoothly.

Every mom needs a bit of help staying on top of things at the beginning of school season. These Ways To Streamline Back to School Breakfasts are sure to keep you going easily. No need to panic each morning, nor to give in to feeding your kids unhealthy options. These useful tips will make back to school breakfasts go quickly and smoothly for everyone.

Ways To Streamline Back to School Breakfasts

Make freezer breakfasts. We have great make ahead recipes here for you to try out, but you can cook anything you want a week or night before and freeze it. Popular freezer breakfasts include breakfast burritos, breakfast casseroles, breakfast sandwiches, and even making pancakes and waffles in advance. Being able to grab individual portions out and pop them into the microwave for a super fast but delicious breakfast is so convenient.

Make oatmeal a star. Oatmeal really is one of the best and most satisfying breakfasts. Overnight oatmeal is a perfect cold breakfast cereal option that many love. Another option is to make your own easy instant oatmeal packets in advance. You can monitor the amount of sugar in them this way, and save money in the process. We even have enjoyed delicious Crockpot oatmeal recipes that cook overnight.

Setup a breakfast station. Setup a shelf in your refrigerator with easy on-the-go foods like yogurt, fresh fruit, or even juice that has been poured and ready to grab. Outside the kitchen you can set up cereal, granola bars, trail mix, and similar items on a designated shelf so kids can prepare their own breakfasts easily.

Limit choices. There’s no arguing or struggle to decide when you pro actively limit your kids choices. Allow only 2-3 options that are easy for your kids to manage by themselves. Invest in storage containers for cereals or baskets for granola bars and cereal bars. This makes it easy for kids to make their own breakfasts.

Assign breakfast duty to a different person each morning. Help to streamline back to school breakfasts by assigning each child a day each week to make breakfast for everyone else. This gives everyone a break a few times a week and will teach responsibility in the process.

Make smoothies. If time is tight, smoothies are a great way to make breakfast easier to manage. Prep fruits in advance and place in easy to portion freezer baggies. All you have to add in the morning is add some juice and yogurt if you like. Simply spend 5 minutes or less blending up the smoothies and pour into easy to transport cups. Kids can drink them on the way to school.

Use school breakfast options. Many schools offer breakfast in the mornings for a small fee. Sometimes, this is the best and easiest option for you and your kids. Plan ahead to get your kids to school a bit early so they can stop and grab breakfast in the cafeteria.

These ways to streamline back to school breakfasts will help you to make sure your kids are fed properly without sacrificing much needed sleep or time getting ready each day.

Yes to the freezer meal options. I would add homemade muffins to the list.

Great ideas – and always needed! I have a weekly menu for my kids’ meals (they’re still pretty young) so they don’t get much of a choice in breakfast, but I have a rotation of some easy favorites that we go through – including lots of overnight oats and freezer-friendly homemade muffins and waffles. Need to incorporate more smoothies and get them involved more as they get older. Thanks for the great tips!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
