20 Frugal Ways to Use Olive Oil

Olive oil is a staple in the kitchen. Chances are, you have a bottle or two tucked away in the pantry somewhere. Well the truth is you can never have too much olive oil, as it is a product that can be used for more than just making salad dressings. Take a peek below at 20 uses for olive oil that you may not have known about. The many uses for this simple product may surprise you!

20 Frugal Ways to Use Olive Oil

1. Lower your cholesterol.
Olive oil contains polyphenols, which are known to keep cholesterol levels healthy and where they should be. Eat your way to a better cholesterol when you add olive oil to your meals.

2. Banish acne.
Add a few drops of olive oil to your body and face scrubs to help make acne vanish.

3. Treat sunburn.
Olive oil will help your skin retain moisture, so putting it on a sunburn can be quite beneficial. Just add a few drops to your lotion for best results.

4. Soften your lips.
Apply olive oil to your lips to keep them soft and moisturized.

5. Condition your hair.
Apply olive oil to the tips of your hair to help moisturize and make the split ends vanish.

6. Prevent dry scalp.
Add a few drops of olive oil to your daily conditioner to help moisturize your scalp and prevent flaking.

7. Remove paint.
Olive oil loosens paint, so if you should happen to splatter some on yourself just add a little olive oil to it and it should come right off.

8. Moisturize your legs.
Get soft and supple legs when you apply a few drops of olive oil to them. It will make your skin glow with radiance.

9. Smooth dry feet.
Apply a few drops of olive oil to the soles of your feet and massage in for instant moisturizing. Dry and flaky heals will disappear.

10. Get a better tan.
Add a few drops of olive oil to your self tanner and it will go on more evenly, giving you a better tan.

11. Make your own massage oil.
Add a drop of essential oil to some olive oil and you now have your own spa like massage oil! Perfect for helping someone you love relax.

12. Make your cat’s coat shine.
Apply a few drops of olive oil to your cat’s fur and brush it through. It can help make her fur shine and ward off some pests.

13. Banish cellulite.
Mix a few drops of olive oil with coffee grounds and apply to your problem areas. Rinse. The appearance of cellulite will be reduced!

14. Remove makeup .
Apply olive oil to your face to remove stubborn make up. It can be even used around delicate areas such as the eyes.

15. Fix a stuck zipper.
Apply a little olive oil to a zipper that is stuck. Let it soak the zipper then attempt to re-zip it.

16. Polish wood furniture.
Olive oil can be rubbed onto wood furniture to make it shine like new. It can also help the appearances of scratches be reduced.

17. Shine your other household surfaces.
Add a few drops of olive oil to your stainless steel appliances and hardware for some instant shine.

18. Condition your wood cutting boards .
Rub a few drops of olive oil on your wood cutting boards to help condition them and keep them looking like new.

19. Get more dramatic eyelashes.
Place a drop of oil on your fingers and press your fingers over your eyelashes. This will moisturize them and give them a darker, more dramatic appearance without the use of mascara.

20. Waterproof boots.
If you have leather work boots, you can add a drop or two of olive oil to a cloth and rub it over the boots. It will help waterproof them. You can also do this with leather work gloves.

    Wow, I didn’t know that olive oil has THIS many uses. I mainly used it for foods, but it looks like it’s perfect for a lot more other things. The 20th tip is especially interesting.
