If you are starting a clean eating diet, it can be hard to to fall into old habits. Try these 7 Simple Clean Eating Tips to make the transition easier.

As you transition to a diet of clean eating, you’ll find yourself frustrated at times and wanting to go back to old habits. These 7 Simple Clean Eating Tips are sure to be your safeguard when those days come. Not only do you want to better your health overall now, but you want this to be a lasting impact. Sticking with clean eating habits will help you to improve not just your life right now but your health long term.

7 Simple Clean Eating Tips

Plan Ahead. Don’t get caught off guard when you are out, or in a hurry. Plan ahead with clean snacks and meals that are easy to grab and go.

Fruit Is Always A Good Choice. When the sweet tooth kicks in and you want the bag of Oreos, grab fresh fruit instead. Picking slightly over ripe fruit brings out the natural sugars and is often pleasing to the sweet tooth.

Roasting Vegetables Makes Them More Palatable. Lots of people struggle to eat their veggies each day and clean eating makes it tough to avoid them. Roasting your veggies a bit to bring out their natural flavors and give them a bit of crisp without frying will make it much more palatable.

When All Else Fails Grab The Organic Dark Chocolate. It may not be on the best food choice list, but it is healthier than some and will satisfy that craving you can’t shake.

Try New Things. Get adventurous and seek out new clean eating recipes online or in cookbooks. Try a new flavor or test out a cuisine you haven’t had before. Indian, Asian, German and Mexican or South American flavor influences are rich in flavor and can all be easily adapted to the clean eating diet.

Add Fresh Herbs. Even a simple carrot can be completely transformed with a bit of fresh dill chopped and thrown on it while roasting. Fresh herbs add a completely different flavor profile to all foods. Dry herbs and seasonings are handy, but fresh is always best.

If It Is Packaged Skip It. While not every ready made packaged product would go against your clean eating rules, the ones that are okay are few and far between. If it is in a package skip it. If you can’t pronounce a name on the ingredient list, move on.

Clean eating doesn’t have to be super restrictive. You can enjoy nearly everything you would normally want to have on your diet. The difference is limiting the processed foods and eating as much organic as possible. A clean eating diet is focused on providing your body with good nutritious foods for fuel. These 7 simple clean eating tips are just a little of what can help you succeed when you set your mind to it.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
