This Patriotic Duct Tape Banner makes a frugal and festive accent for 4th of July celebrations.
For some reason, I really like to go all out when decorating for the 4th of July. However it is one of the holidays where it seems harder to find well made decoration to buy. For years I just used red, white, and blue streamers, but they are so fragile that I didn’t feel comfortable putting them up to far in advance less they were torn or tangled before the party even started. My friend shared her idea with me of using Duct tape and twine to create a sturdier banner.
This patriotic duct tape banner is so sturdy that it can even withstand inclement weather. You can make it ahead of time and hang it up a few days before the party and not have to worry about it falling apart. You can also fold it up after the 4th of July and store it for next year.
You can use any combination of colors or patterns of duct tape to make this banner. You can also use thin colored robe if you with instead of twine.
How to Make a Patriotic Duct Tape Banner
Materials:
Instructions:
1. Cut the Jute rope or string to the length you want your banner to be. For a very long banner, you may want to divide it up into manageable sections, then attach the sections together after attaching the duct tape.
2. Cut the duct tape into 3 – 5 inch pieces. Fold the tape over the rope and back onto itself.
3. Continue this in a pattern. Feel free to cut the tape into shapes after you have it folded over the rope.
You can really get as creative as you want with this project. It’s a great way to decorate on a budget.
