How to Your Life From Chaotic to Organized in 5 Steps

Are you tired of feeling like your life is full of chaos? What if you could take your life from chaotic to organized in 5 easy steps? I’m here to tell you that it can happen! I know that feeling of being so overwhelmed because everything in our life feel chaotic. I’ve been there and was stuck in that rut for a long time! I was able to overcome the chaotic lifestyle by simply thinking about what was important and what I truly wanted to accomplish in my home and personal life.

How to Your Life From Chaotic to Organized in 5 Steps

Step 1 Think About Your Goals

Before you can even think about getting your life organized you need to think about what your long-term goals are. Take some time to write down what in your life is overwhelming you and what areas need attention. Once you have thought about your goals you can start to work on achieving them and getting your life in order. This first step should be taken very seriously! Spend as much time on this as you need to and don’t feel bad if just about every part of your life needs attention. This is natural!

Step 2  Organize Your Home

A clean and well organized home is a happy home! When you are happy you have less stress and isn’t that the overall goal? When I say organize your home, I mean organize it from top to bottom! We want every knick and cranny organized. This task can be extremely overwhelming so don’t try to accomplish it all in one day. I like to break this step up into the rooms of the house. Try doing the living room on day 1, kitchen on day 2 and so on. It will probably take you about a week to get this step done but the end result is so worth the effort.

Step 3 Organize Your Personal Life

Now that you have your home organized it’s time to organize your personal life. For some people this step is harder than organizing the home because we tend to over commit ourselves. Take a good look at everything you have going on in your life. Are you over committing yourself? If so you will want to think about what commitments are truly important and what isn’t so important. Remember, we don’t have to say yes to everything! And don’t feel bad saying no! It’s really okay to say no and people will understand.

You will also want to take some time to organize your daily schedule. Make sure you are not wasting to much time on time sucking tasks like social media, long phone calls, online games and television. Your time is important so make sure it is being well spent.

Step 4 Create a Routine

Once you have your home and personal life organized create a routine that works for you and your family. You will want to have a routine for keeping up with your housework and your personal schedule. Having a routine in place will help you keep your life organized and prevent you from slipping back into a chaotic lifestyle.

Step 5 Make a List

By now you should be feeling pretty well organized! At this point it’s time to start creating some lists. These lists can be as detailed as you would like. Here are a few of the lists that have been beneficial to me.

  • Shopping List
  • Kitchen Inventory List
  • Master Cleaning List
  • Chore List
  • Daily To Do List
  • Pantry Inventory List
  • Freezer Inventory List
  • Monthly Dinner Menu Plan

The lists above are just suggestions and feel free to make any type of list that is conducive to your families life.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
