Here are 10 fun water and ice activities for kids to enjoy on a hot summer day:

Water and ice activities for kids

We’re more than halfway through our summer break and just now starting to feel the heat. As the kids begin to anticipate school, I’m trying to get them outside while they still can. But, it’s just too hot to play still many days.

Cue the water, ice, and fun ways to keep cool at home. Sure, they’d like to hit the waterpark every day, but our budget doesn’t quite allow for that frequency. Instead, we’re looking for frugal activities to help them beat the heat in our own backyard. Lucky for us, there are a ton of them, and most of them are very low cost and all guaranteed to make the smiles come out.

Here are my 10 favorite water and ice activities for kids so you can keep cool while the hot summer days still rage on.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
