This coffee filter jellyfish craft for kids is a fun summer craft project.
My youngest son loves sea creatures. His first love is dolphins, but Jellyfish are a close second. He has read numerous books on Jellyfish memorizing the different types. And he insists on spending quite a bit of time studying them when ever we visit an aquarium. So when my friend Erika shared this jellyfish craft with me I knew he would love it.
The coffee filter jellyfish craft is easy to make with a little assistance from an adult. An adult will need to use the hot glue gun, but the rest of the steps can be completed by the child. This summer craft provides cutting practice for those who need to work on their fine motor skills.
If your child enjoys Finding Nemo, they will have fun creating their own little “squishy” friend.
Coffee Filter Jellyfish Craft for Kids
Materials:
- white coffee filters
- large plastic googly eyes
- 6 pieces colored card stock (I used 2 green, 2 pink, and 2 blue)
- hot glue gun and a glue stick
- scissors
Directions:
1. Cut 2 large circles from each piece of card stock
2. Cut a swirl into each circle, starting on the outside of the circle
3. Hot glue 3 coffee filters together to give a layered look.
4. Turn your coffee filter upside down and hot glue your plastic googly eyes onto the front.
5. Now hot glue the ends of your paper swirls into the coffee filter and you’ve got yourself a super cute jellyfish!
There is so much room for children to get creative and make their own unique jelly fish.
