10 Delicious Kale Recipes & How to Freeze Kale - Enjoy this frugal and vitamin rich vegetable in these easy kale recipes. Freeze extra kale with these tips.

Kale is a great vegetable as you probably already know if you are reading this. Kale is great vegetable to grow in cold weather and can be started in very early spring and again in the fall. Here are tips for growing kale.

Kale is also in season for purchasing this time of year.. This means you can get it at it’s lowest cost of the season right now. Since you may have found yourself with extra kale since it is in season right now, below are 10 kale recipes to help you use it up and tips for freezing the excess kale to use later.

How to Freeze Kale

You can preserve kale by freezing unlike many other leafy greens that don’t do well in the cold temperature. To freeze kale short term (3-4 weeks), you don’t have to do anything but wash it, separate the leaves and freeze it. If you intend on holding it longer, you can blanch it for a short period of time as this will help it not become more bitter over time. Frozen kale is good is smoothies, side dishes and casseroles as well as soups. Onto the recipes!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
