The Chocolate Dipped Clementines Recipe gives you a tasty break from the heavier treats of the holiday season (although they are lovely year-round).  The fresh tart bite of fruit pairs wonderfully with creamy milk chocolate and the crunch of sprinkling sugar gives another texture that completes them.  Kids will enjoy making them with you as much as they enjoy eating them!

Chocolate-Dipped Clementines Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 5 clementines, peeled with large pieces of pith removed and divided into slices
  • 1 cup milk chocolate morsels
  • Decorative sprinkling sugar

Instructions:

  1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave stirring well every 30 seconds giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the chocolate is overheated, it will be too thick or seize. You can add 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening to help thin the chocolate but do not add any other type of liquid as the chocolate will seize and harden.
  2. Make sure clementine slices are dry as the liquid will make the chocolate seize and harden. Dip clementine slices one at a time about halfway into the chocolate. Allow excess to drip off and place dipped clementine on waxed paper.chocolate clementine recipe
  3. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate with decorative sprinkles.chocolate dipped coated clementine
  4. Allow chocolate to set completely before packaging or serving.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
