These chocolate covered Oreo wreath cookies are so festive! No one will care that you didn’t bring home-baked cookies to the cookie swap! You can make these Oreo Wreath Cookies with either traditional chocolate or white chocolate. Both are topped with a wreath made with frosting, red candies, and bow made with fruit roll-ups.

Oreo Wreath Cookies Recipe

Yields: 1 dozen

Ingredients:

  • 12 regular Oreos cookies
  • 1 cup Wilton bright white candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Wilton dark cocoa candy melts or semi-chocolate chips
  • 10 oz ready to spread vanilla frosting (or use homemade buttercream frosting)
  • Green food paste (I used Wilton green leaf)
  • 3 Red fruit roll ups
  • Red M&M’s or cinnamon candies

Supplies:

  • 2 (6 ct) cookie molds
  • Wilton melting pot or double boiler
  • Wilton Open Star Piping Tip and Piping Bag

Directions:

1.   Place the white candy melts in a Wilton melting pot or double boiler over medium heat until completely melted and smooth.

2.  Place 2 tablespoons of the melted white chocolate into 6 of the cookie molds.  Place an Oreo on top of the melted chocolate.  Spoon additional melted white chocolate on top of each cookie, up to the top of the mold.  If you see any air bubbles in the melted chocolate, simply tap on the side of the mold until they disappear.

3.  Repeat Steps 1 and 2 using the dark cocoa candy melts. Place both cookie molds in the refrigerator for 1 hour to allow the chocolate to “set” quickly.

4.  Line a cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. Unroll the fruit roll-ups and cut into thin 1/2″ strips.  Tie each strip into a red bow and use scissors to trim the length. You will need 12 bows.  Use the remaining strips to place on the middle of each bow and tuck on the backside. Place on the lined cookie sheet and set aside.

5.   Transfer the ready to spread vanilla frosting into a small mixing bowl.  Add the green food paste until your desired shade of green is achieved.

6.    Place a star piping tip inside a disposable piping bag or a Ziploc bag with the corner cut off. Spoon the green frosting into the bag and close tightly with a rubber band.

7.     Once the chocolate has set, remove the cookies from the refrigerator. Gently pop out each cookie from the mold and place on the lined cookie sheet.

8.     Pipe the green frosting around the edge of each cookie to look like a wreath.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
