If you have ever had Mexican Hot Chocolate you know that hot cocoa tastes really good with some unexpected spices. The pumpkin pie spice combines well with the cocoa to create a uniquely flavored hot chocolate. And the pumpkin puree adds a luscious thickness to this hot cocoa. It is a perfectly delightful combination on a chilly fall day!

Pumpkin Pie Spice Hot Cocoa Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree (How to Make Pumpkin Puree)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice (How to Make Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix)

Directions:

  1. Add milk to a medium saucepan. Warm the milk over a medium heat. Do not let the milk come to a boil.
  2. Whisk the pumpkin puree, cocoa powder, sugar, pumpkin pie spice into the milk. Whisk until smooth. Continue cooking for 2 minutes while not letting the hot chocolate come to a boil.
  3. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream (homemade whipped cream recipe). Then sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice over the whipped cream.
