These 8 Frugal Home Decor Ideas are just what you need to revamp your home on a budget! Check out our simple tips and begin decorating your space today!

What if you could make your home look awesome, but do it inexpensively?  These 8 Frugal Home Decor Ideas are just what you need to get started!  There are a lot of great ways to decorate your home without it costing a ton of money. People do it every day without an HGTV dream home budget. From flea market finds to DIY decorating ideas, if you’re looking for inexpensive home decor ideas, check out these tips that can be applied to every room in your house!

8 Frugal Home Decor Ideas

There is no rule that says you have to decorate the whole house all at once. Start small and go from there. I mean, you can pick up one item a week to decorate your home with if that is what fits into your budget. Starting small allows you to dream big, but also stay within your means.  This can be even something as small as new pillows, or new curtains in a room.

Painting fixes so much!
If you can’t decide on what home decor ideas you want to go with first, always go with painting a room, wall, or furniture.  Quality paint, these days, really isn’t all that expensive. An inexpensive tip is to paint the room! Paint also allows you to pick up a sturdy coffee table, dresser, or dining table from a flea market or thrift store and make it look like new.

Choose décor pieces that are versatile.
A tip for decorating your house in an inexpensive manner is to choose décor pieces that can be used for other things. A good example might be using a storage piece that also works as a great décor piece.  Shelving, clocks, and coat racks are all useful but also great home decor ideas you can customize.

Make your own décor pieces.
With Pinterest and all of the DIY shows out there, there are TONS of ways you can make inexpensive décor pieces for your own home. Who cares if they are perfect or not, perfection is for the birds.  Not sure where to begin?  Check out these 13 Easy DIY Pallet Projects.

Grab pieces of fabric on sale.
This is one of my favorite home decor ideas that is a perfect inexpensive and easy way to update a room. If you walk down the fabric aisle and peek in the clearance section, you will be in décor heaven. There is so much that you can do with a piece of fabric. Let your decorating imagination get the best of you here. Don’t limit your ideas to DIY window treatments and homemade throw pillows. Add fabric to a wall, frame pieces for fun artwork, reupholster a stool, and more!

Ask for the opinion of a decorating expert.
If you are close friends with someone who is a home décor expert, don’t be afraid to ask them a question. Wouldn’t it be better to have their opinion, then not? Even if you don’t want their opinion, they may give it to you anyways!  Pick things that appeal to you and let them help you narrow it down.

Stick with your ideas.
Decorating can get super expensive if you keep changing your mind. In my opinion, it’s best if you stick with your ideas or at least have one set in stone BEFORE you start.  Planning things out will help you from having added expenses when one of your home decor ideas doesn’t work the way you want.

Spend your money in the right places.
Spending $1,500 on a piece of art for your wall might seem reasonable, right? However, it’s best to spend your home décor budget where it matters most. For example, you may want to spend that money on the furniture, not the wall accents.  Focus larger amounts of money on things that will be used more by your family and add value to your home.

Bonus Home Decor Tip: Keep in mind that this is your home, not a museum. The pieces of décor you pick don’t have to be the rarest, most expensive finds.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
