Directions:

1. To begin, you want to cut out felt “m” shapes. These are best described as having a flat bottom and double hump on top. The size you cut these will depend on the size you wish for your clovers to be. Those pictured here were about the size of a half dollar. Since a four leaf clover has four leaves, you will want to cut out four of these shapes per one clover you wish to make.

2. Next, you want to create a mini banner with your thread and felt cut outs. Attach the thread to the needle and poke through the top of the shape. Pull through and poke back up through the felt, then poke down once more. Finish by poking upward one last time and pulling the thread through. Essentially, your needle will be moving down, up, down, up.

3. Repeat this step on each of the four cut outs. Your mini banner is complete when all four pieces have been added. Once all of the pieces have been threaded, hold the end of the thread and push all of the pieces together. As they scrunch up, you will see the felt four leaf clover take shape!

4. You may need to do a little primping to the clover to make the pieces lay nicely. Keep pulling the felt pieces tightly together, and then use the remaining thread to make a few center stitches to hold them in place.

5. When you are done, make a double stitch to secure the thread. Your felt four leaf clover is now complete!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
