How to Save Money on Weight Watchers- A healthy lifestyle doesn't have to be expensive. You can save money on Weight Watchers with these frugal tips.

Weight Watchers has been around for a while. If you are not familiar with it, the basic premise is that you follow a points-based system in order to achieve your weight loss goals. You can also go to meetings as well as a way to encourage you. Weight Watchers is a fairly easy to follow plan and many people like it because it doesn’t say you can’t have certain foods at different phases of the diet or that you can’t enjoy some of your favorite things. Rather, it says you only get so many points a day, so it allows you to be more choosy about how you ‘spend’ them. Because of this, it is easily adaptable to many lifestyles and budgets. However, it is also easy to spend a lot more money because it encourages healthier eating and sometimes this can be expensive. Here are some tips on How to Save Money on Weight Watchers.

How to Save Money on Weight Watchers

Skip the pre-packaged foods designed for the diet. Weight Watchers has come out with many snacks and meals that are their brand and have the points listed on the side. While this is super convenient, pre-packaged food and snacks are almost always an expensive route to take.

Look for coupons to save money on your plan. There are coupons floating around all the time that help you save money when you sign up for Weight Watchers. Sometimes, you can even find free months or 50% off several months in a row if you sign up using these coupons. To find them, simply Google, ‘Weight Watchers Coupons’ and the year you are looking for them. For example, this year it would be ‘Weight Watchers Coupons 2016’.

Buy produce in season. Most vegetables are 0 point foods, so many that are following the Weight Watchers diet plan buy a lot of fresh produce. This can add up over time. Instead of buying what sounds good, try to keep in mind what is on sale. Buying produce in season helps you get the best deals year round. You should also check out local farmer’s markets for some good deals on produce and to see what is in season.

Make a meal plan. Following a meal plan based on Weight Watchers food and Weight Watchers recipes will help you stay on a budget as well. If you make a plan on what to eat every day for the week or month, you will know what you can use for leftovers as well as plan it around what is in season. Additionally, making a meal plan allows you to save money and time by being able to batch cook for the week.

Cook from scratch as often as possible. Buying ingredients to make meals and snacks is almost always a cheaper way to go. If you are already skipping packaged snacks, this is a great place to start. However, if you have the time, delving even deeper and making your own desserts or soups is better as well. Not only does this help your budget, you can control exactly what goes into them as well.

Stick with basics and keep a well-stocked pantry. One of the most basic things you can keep in your pantry that can keep your points levels down and are also very filling are things like beans. Most beans are only 2 points and some are even 0 points so they are a great food to have in your pantry. You can use them in many ways, too. They are great for stretching meat in meals so you don’t have to spend as much. Also, buying in bulk can be a huge savings as well.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
