10 ways to introduce the letter g

The letter G was always one of my favorite letters when I was a kid. I don’t know if that makes me weird for having a favorite letter or not, but I just remember liking it’s smooth curves and the fun tail it had when you wrote it in lowercase. It could also be that my kindergarten teacher had a fun song about the letter G too. In any case, if you are creating a lesson plan for your child for the letter G, here are some awesome ideas to get you started!

10 Ways to Introduce the Letter G

Ways to Teach the Letter G with Crafts:

I love this idea! Make these adorable gumball machines with fingerprints, paint and paper plates from The Littlest Scholars.

G is for GLITTER! What kid doesn’t like glitter? Make this fun Glitter G from How to do..Something.

Printables to Teach the Letter G:

This Letter G worksheet from Kidzone helps your children not only trace the letter but also sound out the words with the images that start with the letter G.

I like this Letter G “Alphabet Parade” worksheet from School Sparks because it not only requires reading and sounding out the letter sound, but also cutting and pasting.

Fun Letter G Activities:

Go Geocaching! There are plenty of ways you can turn this into a lesson plan. GPS, Geocaching…both start with the letter G and you could look for the Letter G on signs on the way to your destination as well as look for items that start with the letter when you get there! Here are some tips for geocaching with kids to get you started.

Cut out some fun paper eyeglasses, attach them to bamboo sticks and do a fun photo session with different goofy ones on. Sounds like a great way to learn and make memories!

Books:

Good Night, Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann

Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae

Grumpy Goat by Brett Helquist

Go, Dog, Go by P.D. Eastman

Recipes:

This Letter G Graham Cracker Treat from Childfun is so cute and creative!

Make some delicious homemade guacamole! Kids love dips and they are often fascinated by how they get put together. Little ones will love mashing up the avocado with their hands, too!

More Fun with the Letter G:

Make some Green Goo Gak from Imagination Soup for an awesome sensory activity that helps you teach the letter G at the same time. All you need is some glue and borax for special ingredients!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
