Right now it looks wet, slushy, and dreary outside, but I am hoping soon the weather turns into one of my favorite seasons: Spring! I saw a quote today that really made me get excited for the season. It said, “Flowers are the Earth’s laughter.” This totally rang true for me as I find springtime to be a great season for feeling renewed and full of joy just like a good belly laugh does.

When I was a kid, my grandfather would pay the first grandchild to find a dandelion in the spring. It was always fun to compete with my brother and cousins to see who would be the first one to spot one and bring it to him for our reward. I think I only won one year, but the excitement of spring was still glowing inside me even if I didn’t win. I used to look for buds to appear on the trees as I eagerly waited for the robins to be found in my backyard as if they were the messengers of mother nature for the arrival of renewed life.

Now is the perfect time to get your kids together to do some fun spring crafts. The weather may still be a little chilly where you are, but you can still celebrate the beginning of spring with these 15 Spring Crafts for Kids.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
