How to make pool noodle hurdles for kids - these make a great addition to a backyard obstacle course for kids.

Last week Rodney shared ideas for setting up a Backyard Obstacle Course for Kids.  These jumps made from pool noodles would make a great addition to any backyard obstacle course that you set up for your kids.

How to make a pool noodle obstacle course

Creating a jumping course for kids is a fun way for them to get exercise. Whether you create jumps as part of an obstacle course or create hurdles simply for the fun of it, these pool noodle hurdles provide hours of entertainment for children.  Since the pool noodles aren’t altered, they can go straight from the course to the pool and back again!

How to Make a Pool Noodle Obstacle Course for Kids (Hurdles)

For each hurdle, you will need one pool noodle and two ball point pens or pencils. You can pick up pool noodles at your local dollar store for a dollar each. While you are there you can pick up a box of pens or pencils for a dollar.

Items Needed:

  • 2 ink pens or pencils
  • 1 pool noodle

To make each hurdle:

Push the ink pens into the ground, approximately 1” deep and 18” apart.

Place the pool noodle over the top of each pen to create a hurdle.

Repeat to make as many hurdles as you wish for your obstacle course.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
