This unique anti-hot weather recipe will take your slush game to the next level. So, level- up with the Cantaloupe and Sweet Apple Slush. This one is a game-changer. It is a cup of fresh fruit, all sweet and cantaloupy goodness you can eat! Now, that is something you can write home about because there will be no cup to wash. Winning!

Cantaloupe and Sweet Apple Slush

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium ripe cantaloupe
  • 1 -2 sweet apples
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar or 2 tablespoons of simple syrup
  • 2 cups of crushed ice
  • a fresh sprig of thyme

Cantaloupe and Sweet Apple Slush ingredients

Directions:

  1. Note: You are going to make two different types of slushes: A cantaloupe slush and an apple slush.
  2. Using a standard slush machine or a blender add 1 cup of cubed cantaloupe, 5 -6 ice cubes, and a tablespoon of raw sugar, honey, or agave nectar.
  3. Blend until smooth and spoon or pour into the prepared cantaloupe cup.
  4. Next, rinse out the blender and repeat the process. This time use the cubes of apple, ice cubes, and your choice of raw sugar, honey or agave nectar.
  5. Blend until the apple mixture is smooth and spoon onto of the cantaloupe slush.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of thyme.
  7. Serve.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
