Little ones love getting to help out in the kitchen. These Edible Bird Nests are a perfect no-bake recipe to make with kids. They can be used as a teaching tool for the letter N, as part of a unit study on birds, or as a fun spring or Easter treat!
Kids love to cook and make treats in the kitchen. They especially love it when they can get their hands dirty doing it. These Edible Bird Nests are a great kitchen activity for kids young and old. For little ones, you could use this as part of a unit study on the letter N. Older kids would enjoy this one in a unit study about birds, especially if you are talking about how birds make their nests.
I have seen a lot of bird nest crafts online and some of them have also been edible, but I had never seen any that looked more realistic. The no-bake recipe for these treats only requires four ingredients. One of them is Shredded Wheat to make the bird nests look more like the real thing and still taste mighty delicious! If you have peanut allergies, try another butter that is safe for your needs.

1. Crush biscuits with your hands in a large bowl. Kids will love this part!
2. Microwave chocolate chips for one minute and stir until smooth.
3. Stir in peanut butter until combined well.
4. Pour over biscuits and mix well.
5. Place biscuits into a nonstick muffin pan (or coat with nonstick cooking spray) and press firmly. Create a divot in the center of the nest with the back of a spoon.
