Little ones love getting to help out in the kitchen. These Edible Bird Nests are a perfect no-bake recipe to make with kids. They can be used as a teaching tool for the letter N, as part of a unit study on birds, or as a fun spring or Easter treat! These Edible Bird Nests are a perfect no-bake recipe to make with kids. Kids love to cook and make treats in the kitchen. They especially love it when they can get their hands dirty doing it. These Edible Bird Nests are a great kitchen activity for kids young and old. For little ones, you could use this as part of a unit study on the letter N. Older kids would enjoy this one in a unit study about birds, especially if you are talking about how birds make their nests.

I have seen a lot of bird nest crafts online and some of them have also been edible, but I had never seen any that looked more realistic. The no-bake recipe for these treats only requires four ingredients. One of them is Shredded Wheat to make the bird nests look more like the real thing and still taste mighty delicious!  If you have peanut allergies, try another butter that is safe for your needs.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
