These Valentine’s Day Chocolate Covered Pretzels are perfect if you are looking for a sweet little treat for your friends, coworkers, or even a kids’ class party.

Valentine's Day Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods Recipe

Valentine’s Day Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods are easy to make and are a great treat when you need something simple but delicious with a holiday kick!   Covered in different colors of candy melts and topped with festive sprinkles they are as good to eat as they are to look at and will add the perfect spot of charm to your Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day Chocolate Covered Pretzels Recipe

This easy chocolate dipped pretzel sticks can make up to 48 pretzels if you use all of the candy melts. If you just want to make 12 chocolate covered pretzel rods, then only melt 1/4 – 1/3 of each bag of the candy melts.

Ingredients:

  • 12 – 48 large Pretzel rods
  • Light Cocoa candy melts, milk chocolate morsels, or chocolate-flavored almond bark
  • White candy melts, white chocolate morsels, or vanilla almond bark
  • Pink candy melts
  • Red candy melts
  • Valentine’s Day Sprinkle Set
  • Heart Sprinkles

Instructions:

1. Melt the candy coating according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the candy but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.

Cover the pretzel rod with white chocolate

2. Pour candy coating over two-thirds of the pretzel rod and shake gently to remove excess. If applying sprinkles, do so immediately rotating the pretzel rods to coat all sides. Larger sprinkles work best if placed individually.

3. Place pretzel rod on waxed paper or cooling rack. (Cook’s notes: Waxed paper makes for easier release.)

4. If drizzling with additional colored candy melts, allow initial candy coating to set completely. Then, use a spoon or fork to drizzle candy coating over the pretzel rods. Before the pretzel sets, gently pick it up and move to clean wax paper.

5. Let the pretzel rods dry completely before packaging or serving.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
